Armagh manager Peter McDonnell is planning without the services of injured midfielder James Lavery for Sunday’s Ulster SFC quarter-final against Cavan.
The Maghery clubman has failed to recover from a thigh injury which he picked up prior to the recent challenge match against Dublin at Cullyhanna.
McDonnell explained: "Unfortunately James has calcification of bruising on his thigh, and his injury has not responded satisfactorily to treatment over the last few weeks.
"James’ unavailability is a major blow to us, as he’s a tremendous midfielder, and he would have been a huge acquisition to us against Cavan. And his injury is so serious that he could be out of action for some considerable time.
"He’s a big man - almost 6’4" - and he’s also a very fast and mobile type of player. As well, he’s a great leader as he showed when captaining the county under 21 team."
